We are a couple of nerdy kids in love. We are both lucky enough to have found a person who balances us. We have lived together for over a year, with Beth's beautiful daughter, Allie. We're excited to spend our lives together, and to share our wedding with our family and friends.

Lance and Ken Parrish (Beth's older brother) worked together as teenagers, and have remained friends for many years since. In 2009, Ken and his wife, Amanda, threw their annual Halloween party, which both Beth and Lance attended. Beth went as a Japanese geisha; Lance went as Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation in full, and very convincing makeup and costume. Beth's friends and family know her to be a geek and a huge Trekkie, and she was intrigued when she first laid eyes on Lance. "Who's Data?" she asked Amanda. "Oh, that's Lance," Amanda replied, nonchalantly.

As the night progressed, Lance would learn that the cute girl in the geisha costume was actually Ken's little sister, whom Ken had been calling "Beisha" all night. Lance waited until Ken had a few drinks before bravely asking for permission to hit on his sister. Ken was delighted by the idea, but Lance didn't know where to start.

When Lance's friend, Shane, learned that both Beth and Lance were interested in each other but too afraid to act upon it, he took it upon himself to break the ice. Once they started talking, the couple could hardly stop. They spent over 2 hours talking that night and went on their first official date the following weekend.
